Halloween 2009

This was one one of my favorites. My son was at the age where he understood (somewhat) about Halloween. He was also at the age he didn't care what he wore to go trick-or-treating. We wanted to get him a baby Shrek outfit, but couldn't find one. We also thought about him going as donkey, but we couldn't find any either. So, we stumbled upon a frog prince costume and it did the trick. The homemade Shrek and Fiona costumes were very easy and fun to make! Everyone loved our costumes!

For clothing we found a white long sleeved shirt, black vest, pajama pants and a belt. We made sure to tear the clothing a little to make them look raggedy. We also adjusted the clothing to look like it was tighter than usual. For the makeup, we purchased tons of green face paint. For the headpeice, we purchased a baldcap and then created paper mache ears. Once everything was dried, we painted the head piece green. Glued the ears on, and Shrek was complete!

The wig was purchased, but it would have been very easy to make. We purchased the wig from and would highly recommend it. It was comfortable and not too heavy. For make up we did the same as Shrek, also to give Fiona a girly touch, eyeshadow, mascara, blush and lipstick were added. The dress was purchased from a Thrift Store and a few minor adjustments were made. And, to complete the look I wore green tights and flipflops!

Both costumes cost us $35.00. Without the wig, it would have been a lot cheaper.
