Homemade Jello Fruit Snacks

My little guy and I wanted to get into the Halloween spirit today. Instead of making our typical Halloween cookies,we decided to do something different. Since Tyson LOVES fruit snacks, we wanted to make our own.

1 package Jello, any flavor (3 oz)
1-2 envelope(s) unflavored gelatin (.25 oz)
1/3 c. water

Pour water into a saucepan/pot. Sprinkle packets of gelatin over the water and allow to sit for a few minutes. (We waited 3-5 minutes) Turn heat on (medium heat) and stir until all the gelatin is completely dissolved. Once the gelatin is dissolved, pour the mixture into the mold(s). Fill the molds and allow to set for at least 20 minutes. You can also place the "fruit snacks" in the fridge to allow them to set.

Side Note: Any type of molds can be used! They do not have to be Halloween themed. If you visit your local dollarstore, you will most likely find tons of different silicone molds. You can also purchase molds from Wal-mart, ebay and most grocery stores. It's best to look around and find the best deal before purchasing. Make sure you DO NOT grease the molds. The fruit snacks might be sticky, but should come out cleanly from the mold. If they don't, they haven't cooled long enough. Unflavored gelatin usually comes premeasured in .25 ounce envelopes. The brand you'll be most familiar with is Knox Gelatine.

We also decorated our apartment door! Spoooooky!
