Simple Vanilla Buttercream Recipe

This frosting recipe is one of my favorites. It's cost effective, simple and super easy to make. It's great to use for cake decorating, frozen buttercream transfers and pastry filling.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened
4-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 to 6 tablespoons 2% milk

Step One:
Place butter into a large mixing bowl and beat with electric mixer. Continue to beat the butter until it's light and fluffy.

Step Two:
Once butter is whipped, slowly beat in the confectioners sugar, vanilla and milk. (This can become messy!) vanilla and enough milk to achieve desired consistency.

Side Note: If frosting is too runny, add more confectioners sugar. You can also add more milk if mixture is too thick.

Here are a few pictures of the latest cake I made. It was for my fiances 26th birthday. I used this buttercream recipe for all the designs/decoration. I plan on doing a step by step tutorial showing how I make buttercream transfers. (Possibly within the next few weeks.)
